JIMI JONES MUSIC
A dedicated multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, life-long learner, educator, and music industry professional, Jimi Jones has performed from classical music auditoriums to the Grand Ole Opry, toured as support with major artists like Willie Nelson and Luke Combs, served as a guest lecturer to universities as an expert on the music industry, published research used in over twenty countries, led groundbreaking initiatives helping publishers initialize their catalogs with the Mechanical Licensing Collective, and is now looking for the right opportunity to pay forward his education and experience with the next generation of music industry professionals.
Jimi holds a Master of Music in Music Business and Entertainment Industries from the University of Miami Frost School of Music, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Business from Florida Southern College.
As a performer, he has been seen in the recording studios of music row, playing in the clubs on Lower Broadway, touring the country with artists such as Drew Parker, The Steel Woods, Jerry Jacobs, JD Shelburne, Karen Waldrup, and filming as a musician actor for Chris Carmack on CMT's hit series, Nashville, and for Megan Hilty in feature film, Patsy and Loretta. As a classical performer, Jimi performed as Principal Tubist for Florida Southern College WInd Orchestra, Symphony Band, Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Department Pit Orchestra, as well as the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, 12:20 Brass Quintet, TheatreWorks Florida, Penguin Entertainment. He also worked as a freelance low brass specialist with many performances at Disney World and around the country. In addition, he was a featured performer twice for the Florida Music Educators Association Annual Conference.
As a music industry expert, he runs his own artist development program which has led to arena performances and over 40 releases for artists he's managed. Jimi worked for a major sheet music distributor, Florida Music Service, where he oversaw all operations for the main supplier of sheet music for K-12 schools in Florida. He also served at Bluewater Music, and independent music publisher, in the Royalty Department and as Special Projects Coordinator. In this role, he spearheaded the Ash Street Music catalog acquisition of over 1,200 songs, including hits Troubadour made famous by George Strait and Beer On The Table, made famous by Josh Thompson. Later, he worked for Tin Roof as Entertainment & Talent Development Manager, where he oversaw all entertainment for two multi-million dollar revenue producing venues with six stages - booking over 700 events annually. He also spearheaded multiple special projects including the roll-out of a new booking software to manage bookings for a multi-thousand artist roster and over twenty venues, integrating automated population of web events and Bandsintown listings, initializing artist development department, and streamlining company-wide booking process and entertainment accounting practices.
As a researcher and educator, Jimi has taught private lessons for nearly 20 years, served as an industry expert and guest lecturer and clinician for high schools and universities, and published research used in over 20 countries.
